Install a clock-in tablet

Set up a shared tablet so your employees can clock in with their PIN, from the licence in the admin panel to the first test.

  • For Administrators
  • In Panel · Tablet

Use this guide to set up a shared clock-in point at a work centre: reception, warehouse, workshop…

Before you start

  • You need to sign in to the admin panel with a user who has permission to manage tablets: they must see Tablets in the menu, under Management.
  • An Android tablet or an iPad with a stable internet connection and automatic date and time turned on.
  • The employees who will clock in must have a 4-digit PIN on their record. See Employees.
  • If your company uses Allowed IPs, the tablet's network must be allowed. See IP filtering.

Create the licence in the admin panel

Open Tablets

In the admin panel, go to Management › Tablets and click the + button (Create).

Fill in the new tablet

In New tablet:

  • License: it comes already filled in with a user like xxxxxx@tablet.inallow.io. Write it down.
  • Id: a name to recognise it, for example "Recepción Almacén Bilbao".
  • Language: the language the app will use on the tablet.
  • Password: type one or click Generate. Write it down.

Click Create. A confirmation message appears ("Tablet license has been purchased").

Choose who clocks in on it

On the tablet's card, click Manage members. Tick the employees who can clock in on this tablet and click Modify.

If you do not tick anyone, the tablet will show all the company's active employees.

More detail about this screen in Tablets.

Install and link the tablet

Install the tablet app

On the tablet, download the Inallow tablet app:

Get it on Google Play Download on the App Store

It is not the same app employees use on their phones.

Sign in with the licence

Open the app. On the sign-in screen, type the licence in Email and its password in Password, and tap LOGIN.

Wait for it to sync

The tablet shows Synchronizing with the server... and then the list of employees.

Put it in place

Fix the tablet at the clock-in point and plug it in. The app keeps the screen on and, after 1 minute without use, shows the time and date on standby.

Test that it works

Clock in with a test employee

Tap Press to continue, choose an employee, type their PIN and tap Start. Registered Clock-in! should appear.

Check it in the admin panel

In the admin panel, find that clock-in in Clock-ins: it appears as a clock-in made from the tablet.

Close the test clock-in

Go back to the tablet, sign in with the same PIN and tap Stop. If the test clock-in should not count, delete or correct it in the admin panel.

What happens next

  • Employees can now clock in on the tablet. Share the guide Clock in on the tablet with them.
  • The list of employees updates by itself every 30 seconds, so new employees, removals and PIN changes reach the tablet without reinstalling anything.
  • The tablet has no sign-out button: it stays linked to the licence.
