Salto KS

Connect Salto KS locks with Inallow so that opening a door records the employee's clock-in, and look up the door opening events.

Salto KS is an access control system with electronic locks. If your company uses it, you can connect it with Inallow: when an employee opens a configured door with their key, their phone or their code, Inallow receives the event and records the clock-in that matches that door (clocking in or out of work, or starting or ending a break). That way the employee clocks in just by walking in.

To open the section, click the Salto KS logo at the bottom of the admin panel's side menu.

Before you start

  • You need a Salto KS account with access to your company's systems (sites) and locks.
  • The employees must already exist in Inallow. See Create an employee.
  • If you want a door to record work on a project or a break with a reason, create the projects and reasons first.

Connect your Salto KS account

The first time you open the section you will see Integrate Salto KS with Inallow and the Login to Salto KS box.

Enter your Salto KS credentials

Type the User name and Password of your Salto KS account (not your Inallow ones).

Click LOGIN

If the details are correct, Inallow saves them for your company and the section opens. If not, you will see "Incorrect login credentials".

From then on, the section opens directly, with four tabs: Events, Users, Doors and Systems. Events is shown when you open it.

Set up the integration

Follow this order the first time:

Import the systems

In Systems, import your company's Salto KS site. See Systems.

Import and set up the doors

In Doors, import the locks that should record clock-ins and choose what each one does. See Doors.

Link the people with the employees

In Users, match each Salto KS user with their Inallow employee. See Users.

Check the events

Ask an employee to open one of the doors and check that it appears in Events and that their clock-in has been created in Clock-ins.

Systems

A system is a Salto KS site (a building or premises with its locks). The list shows the System name and its Code. Use Search... to filter.

Import a system: click Create (the button with the plus sign). In Import system from SaltoKS, choose the system in Select system to import from SALTO KS. Its name and code are shown ("Data imported from SALTO KS"). Click Create. You will see "System created".

Each system has two buttons:

  • Set processing interval: how often, in seconds, Inallow processes the events coming from that system. Type the value in Processing interval in seconds or use the buttons to raise or lower it. The minimum, and the default value, is 15 seconds. You will see "Interval updated".
  • Delete: opens a confirmation window. Click Delete to remove it from Inallow. You will see "System deleted".

Doors

The list shows each imported door with its Name, its Code, its Type (with the minimum time between openings, if it has one) and its Center. Use Search... to filter.

Import a door: click Create. In Import locks from SaltoKS, first choose the system in Select previously imported system and then the lock in Select the lock to import from SALTO KS. Import lock from SaltoKS opens with its name and code, and these fields:

FieldWhat it is for
TypeWhich clock-in the door records. See the table below.
CooldownOnly in the Entry-Exit types. The minimum time that has to pass since the employee's last opening for a new opening to count: No cooldown, 1 minute, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 15 minutes, 30 minutes or 1 hour. It stops going in and straight back out (for example, going back for something forgotten) from ending the working day.
ProjectRequired in Work entry and Work Entry-Exit. The project the work that starts on opening is recorded against. If you do not use projects, choose "No Project".
ReasonRequired in Pause entry and Entry- exit pause. The reason for the break that starts on opening.
CenterOptional. Clock-ins from this door take that centre's location.

Click Create. You will see "Lock created". To change a door, click Modify on its row: Modify Lock opens, where you can change the fields and click Modify, or click Delete to remove it.

What each door type does

TypeWhen the door is opened…
Work entryCloses the open clock-in, if there is one, and starts work on the door's Project.
Work exitCloses the open clock-in (end of the working day or of the break).
Work Entry-ExitToggles: if the employee is not working, they start working; if they are working, they stop; if they are on a break, the break ends and they go back to work.
Pause entryCloses the open clock-in, if there is one, and starts a break with the door's Reason.
Exit - pauseIf the employee is on a break, it ends it and they go back to work, with the "No Project" project. Otherwise, it does nothing.
Entry- exit pauseToggles: if the employee is not clocked in, a break starts; if they are on a break, it ends and they go back to work (with "No Project"); if they are working, a break starts.

Separate entry and exit doors (for example, turnstiles) work best with Work entry and Work exit. If the employee uses the same door to go in and out, use Work Entry-Exit with a Cooldown.

Users

Here you match each Salto KS user with their Inallow employee. Only openings by linked people generate events and clock-ins. The list shows the employees already linked (User) with their Salto KS Code.

Link a person: click Create. In Link SaltoKS user, choose the system in Select previously imported system and the person in Select user to import from SALTO KS. Their first name, last name and code are shown. Choose the Inallow employee in Employee and click Create. You will see "User created".

Remove a link: click Delete on the row. Remove linkage from SaltoKS opens; click Delete. You will see "User removed". The employee stays in Inallow; they are just no longer linked to Salto KS.

A Salto KS user can only be linked to one employee. You can also give the Salto KS code when adding employees with a CSV file, in the saltoks_code column (see Create an employee).

Events

Events shows the recorded door openings. By default, those from the last 7 days.

  • To change the period, choose the dates in the calendar and click Search.
  • To find a person, type their name in Search....
ColumnWhat it shows
EmployeeWho opened the door. A warning icon means "This event has not been synchronized in real time": the lock stored it offline (or with low battery) and it arrived later.
DoorThe door that was opened.
EntryHow it was opened, as reported by Salto KS.
DateThe day and time of the opening.

Only openings by linked people on imported doors appear.

What an employee needs to clock in with Salto KS

  • To be active (not suspended).
  • To be linked in Users.
  • To have the Salto KS platform allowed in their record in Inallow Admin, Clocks tab. If it is turned off, their openings are not recorded.
  • To open a door imported in Doors.
