Time accuracy

Reject clock-ins made from devices whose time does not match the server's.

When someone clocks in from a phone, a tablet or the browser, the device sends the time of the clock-in. If someone moves their device's clock forward or back, that time would not be real. Time accuracy prevents this problem: it sets how many seconds of difference are allowed between the device's time and the Inallow server's, and rejects clock-ins that go over it.

You will find this screen in Settings › Time accuracy. Only people with permission to manage clock-ins can see it.

Turn on time accuracy

Turn the option on

Turn on the Turn on time accuracy switch.

Set the maximum offset

In Maximum offset in seconds: type the seconds or use the - and + buttons, which add or subtract 5 seconds. The minimum is 5 seconds.

Save

Click the Save button in the header. While there are unsaved changes, the button is highlighted. When you save, the Updated Accuracy message appears.

If you type a value lower than 5, when you save the Wrong value warning appears: "The entered value is less than the allowed".

To turn it off, switch it off and click Save. From then on the time on devices is not checked.

Which clock-ins it applies to

Clock-ins made online from these are checked:

  • The mobile clock-in app and the web app.
  • The tablet.
  • The Google Chrome extension.

These are not checked:

  • Clock-ins that an administrator creates or corrects from the admin panel.
  • Clock-ins from Salto KS locks and from integrations.
  • Clock-ins made offline that are sent later.

What the employee sees

If their device's time is off by more than allowed, the clock-in is not recorded and the app shows: "The clock-in could not be made because your device's date and time are not synchronised with the server. Please adjust your device's date and time and try again".

The fix is to turn on automatic date and time on the device and clock in again. If the employee cannot clock in, an administrator can record the clock-in from the admin panel. See Correct a clock-in.
