Absence types
Create the absence types that can be recorded or requested, set which ones count against vacation days and share absences with another calendar.
Every absence recorded in Inallow has a type: "Vacation", "Doctor", "Personal days", "Sick leave"… On this screen you create those types and decide which ones count against vacation days.
You will find this screen in Settings › Absences. Its title is Types of absences. Inallow does not come with any types already created: create at least one before your employees request absences.

How days are counted
- One absence per day: Inallow stores absences day by day. When someone records or requests a date range, one absence is created for each day in the range.
- Weekends: when recording a range, whoever records it decides with Include weekends whether Saturdays and Sundays count. The absence type does not change this.
- Public holidays: if the type has Vacations set to Yes, days that are a public holiday for that employee (for the whole company or for their centre) are skipped and not recorded, so they do not count against vacation days. In types with Vacations set to No, public holidays are recorded.
- Vacation balance: only types with Vacations set to Yes are subtracted from the yearly balance, which comes from the employee's collective agreement.
Absence types do not have a day limit of their own, nor an approval or pay option. Requests the employee makes from the app always stay pending until a supervisor or an administrator approves them. See Request vacation days, Approve or reject vacation days and Record an absence.
Where they are used
- In the app, when the employee requests an absence and chooses the type.
- In Calendar and Absences, when recording and reviewing absences. Pending ones are shown in the type's colour in a lighter shade.
- In the Absences, Monthly absences and Absences and compensatory time reports. In the Excess hours report, days with an absence do not add expected time. See Dossiers.
- On days with an approved absence, the employee does not receive reminders to clock in.
Synchronization of absences
Below the list is the Synchronization of absences box. It lets you see your team's absences in Google Calendar or another calendar app that can add a calendar from a web address.
Generate the link
Click the Generate link button. The address appears in Link to synchronize absences. Until you generate one, the field says "No link has yet been generated to synchronize absences".
Copy it
Click the copy button. The message Link copied appears.
Add it to your calendar
In your calendar app, add a new calendar from a web address and paste the link.
What the calendar includes:
- The approved absences of all employees, of any type.
- From the first day of the previous month to the last day of the sixth month ahead.
- One all-day event per employee and type, with the title "First name Last name | Type". Consecutive days of the same type are grouped into a single event.
To stop sharing it, click the delete button. The link stops working straight away. If you generate a new one, the address will be different and you will have to add it to your calendar again.
To generate or delete the link you need permission to manage clock-ins.
