Public holidays

Record the public holidays of the whole company and of each centre so that they do not count as working days.

On this screen you record public holidays. A public holiday can apply to the whole company (for example, a national public holiday) or only to one centre (a regional or local public holiday).

You will find this screen in Settings › Holidays. For the step-by-step, see the guide Set up public holidays.

Rules

  • One specific day: each public holiday is a date in a specific year. It does not repeat by itself every year: you have to create each year's public holidays.
  • No copying or importing: public holidays are created one by one; there is no option to copy them from one year to another or to import them.
  • Who it applies to: a public holiday without a centre applies to all employees. A public holiday with a centre only applies to the employees who have that centre in their record. Employees without a centre only have the company-wide public holidays.
  • One centre per public holiday: if a public holiday affects several centres, but not all, create one public holiday for each centre.
  • No duplicates: there cannot be two public holidays on the same date for the same centre. If you try, the message Duplicate holiday appears.
  • They do not prevent clocking in: an employee can clock in on a public holiday if they work that day.

What a public holiday changes

  • Calendars: it appears in the admin panel's Calendar, in its export and in the calendar of the employee's app.
  • Vacations: when days of an absence type with Vacations set to Yes are recorded or requested, the employee's public holidays are skipped and do not use up vacation days. See Absence types.
  • Clock-in reminders: on that day the employee does not get reminders that they have forgotten to clock in.
  • Dossiers: in Excess hours, the Holidays column counts the public holidays in the period and those days add no planned time. In Out of hours, the T. Holiday column shows the time worked on public holidays. See Dossiers.
